TCU has a sustained history of study abroad with emphasis on short-term, faculty-led programs that expose students to the world in meaningful ways. Discovering Global Citizenship has established two priorities: first, TCU seeks study abroad opportunities that promote intercultural learning through engagement and reflective conversations while abroad. Secondly, TCU intends to increase the number of students studying in underrepresented locations, such as Panama, Brazil, China, India and Africa. Like many U.S. institutions, Western Europe remains the most prevalent study abroad destination for TCU students however, given current global imperatives, increasing interests in non-traditional locations is a priority.
Proposals for faculty-led programs that emphasize intercultural learning while abroad and/or underrepresented location(s) (defined as locations other than Western Europe, Australia, and New Zealand), are the priorities for funding through Discovering Global Citizenship.
